Best French Fries in San Diego
One thing I love to do on the weekends is simply meet at a bar for a drink and order a side of fries!
This is especially easy now that College and NFL Football Season is here.
I will tell you where you can get the best hot, steaming, crispy - but also soft - delicious French Fries in San Diego.
Miss B’s Coconut Club
Neighborhood: Mission Beach
Type of Fries: Thick. We talkin’ real THICK.
Served with: Homemade Ranch and Ketchup
Honestly, their ranch is unlike any other! These are my absolute favorite French Fries in San Diego County. Hands down.
Pair with: In Love with the Coco IPA by Bay City Brewing
Starlite
Neighborhood: Mission Hills / Banker’s Hill
Type of Fries: These guys are short and thin.
Served with: Ketchup and Herb Garlic Aioli
You can’t ever not like a presentation of fries in a silver cup. It just makes everything else feel so elevated. But really, Starlite is one of those beautiful San Diego places that has been on India street for a very long time. In addition to the fries being exquisite, they have the best Kentucky Colonel Mule and Moscow Mule in town!
Pair with: Starlite Mule
Kairoa Brewing Company
Neighborhood: University Heights
Type of Fries: Thick steak fries.
Served with: Tomato relish.
I really was impressed by the added detail of Kairoa making their own tomato relish. And then my boyfriend informed me that it really is a thing in New Zealand. I just have to say thank you for bringing it over stateside!
Long Story Irish Pub
Neighborhood: Point Loma
Type of Fries: Thick steak fries.
Served with: Ranch and Ketchup
We love this local pub. We have hit up this place after a long run in need of double carbs: We order a nice Irish Blonde and the hot, steaming fries for a nice intro in the evening.
Amplified Aleworks
Neighborhood: Pacific Beach
Type of Fries: Seasoned natural fries with light breading so that they were lightly crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside!
Served with: Chipotle Ketchup and Ranch. The ranch is less than satisfactory, but the Chipotle Ketchup more than makes up for it. It’s spicy and smoky and is sensational with the seasoned fries!
Working Class
Neighborhood: North Park
Type of Fries: Long and thin, lightly seasoned.
Served with: Ketchup, Ranch and Chipotle Ranch.
These fries are normal strings of happiness.
