Anacapri: A Charming Side of Capri

Capri is quite a stunning island. Did you know that there are two separate towns on the island of Capri? Most visitors tend to stick to the main city of Capri off Marina Grande when landing via ferry. However, I highly suggest going up! To Anacapri (which literally means, “up Capri”).

It’s a quaint town just a short bus or taxi ride up the side of the island. Instead of just heading to Anacapri for the famous funicular (chair lift) to Monte Solara - stay awhile! To me, Anacapri represented a more charming, calm, authentic side of the island. If you are looking for more opportunities to experience the culture or shop for local products, this is the place to do it. In fact, I purchased a beautiful Capri blue ring from Corallium Capri, which I know will have for the rest of my life. The family who owns the shop has been making jewelry for at least three generations!

We had a nice afternoon meal at Dal Presidente. I can honestly say that their presentation of Aperol Spritz was the best I had ever seen. But then came the antipasto platter! Absolutely gorgeous, with so many flavors to choose from. Even if you aren’t the biggest fan of mozzarella (as I am not), you must experience the mozzarella in Italy. Once you taste it, you know that’s the only way it should taste - utterly fresh. If you’re not hungry enough to get an entire antipasto plate, at least order a caprese salad. After all it gets its name from “salad of Capri”.

Lollo’s bar is also a nice spot for a quick bite. They have many types of Spritz’; including the Capri Spritz, which features lemons from the Italian Coast.

The evening we were there, the town was hosting a Pizza Jazz Night. I absolutely loved seeing all the families out socializing and enjoying their summer evening. It seemed like the most authentic evening of our time on the island.

During our delightful evening of seafood platters and guzzles of white wine, a storm rolled in. There was thunder and lightening, and for me as a Californian, it was thrilling!!

What could be more romantic than running home in a summer rain on the island of Capri?! It was quite the dream.
