4 Healthy Hacks for a Busy Work Day
These are a few healthy hacks I’ve easily incorporated into my work week. Hopefully they’re as helpful to you as they are to me!
1. Meal Prep
I cannot stress how essential meal prepping is to a busy lifestyle. You may have heard of the 80/20 rule: 80% diet, 20% exercise. While many people think it’s the other way around, your body will never change (or maintain) if you continually fill it with bad options. Instead of stopping off at a convenience store for a quick, probably unhealthy snack, I keep healthy options on hand.
My current meal prep favorites:
Going for a walk during lunch hour instead of seeking out grub
Quick oats or overnight oats for busy mornings
2. Find a Gym Schedule That Works For You
I personally cannot stand working out in the morning. It literally takes me at least 30 minutes to adjust to even being awake to the world, let alone have my body in tune with weights and such! By 5pm, I'm amped up from the work day, so I like to release the tensions or energy of the day by going to the gym after work. That is just what works for me.
3. Take Vitamins in the Evening
Along with the 39019 things I have to do in the morning, or during the workday, taking vitamins usually isn’t top of mind. Adding in the fact that vitamins should be taken on a full stomach, I’ve started taking them while I eat my evening meal, or before bed if my evening was spent out socializing.
4. Mental Health Break
Take time for yourself. In the midst of such a fast world, I value checking in with myself. Even if if’s just, “Hey, how are you really feeling about________.” Sometimes life can really creep up on us, so instead of being taken by surprised at some things, I try to move with life as it comes. For me, this can only happen if I stop to face my thoughts and feelings and recharge. Lately, my favorite way to do that is to take a bath or write, or do both at the same time.
Let’s go out there and kick butt!
